How Do You Play 10x10?
To start 10x10, simply click and drag the shapes on the bottom of the screen to the grid. You'll want to fill a full line of tiles, 10 in total, either vertically or horizontally to remove them. The goal of 10x10 is to score points for each shape placed and tile removed, and the higher the score the better. While it may sound easy and simple enough, the 10x10 board can and will fill up in a hurry so it is important to think through each move and placement. See how long you can keep going to maximize your score in this classic version of 10x10!
10x10 Tips and Tricks
Everyone has their own 10x10 strategies, but following are the top tips shared by players who score well into the 6-figures (Note: new players typically score around 500 their first few games of 10x10, so don't get intimidated! As the saying goes, practice makes perfect.).
- There tend to be 10x10 players who prefer to clear rows, and other players who prefer to clear columns. But, generally speaking, the most successful 10x10 players make a note to clear both rows and columns to free up space for new 10x10 tiles, and do so at the same time! The ability to clear rows and columns is what makes 1010 rather different than Tetris.
- Likewise, you'll want to focus on the corners so that you can clear 10x10 rows and columns at the same time.
- The single square 10x10 pieces are the most rare and infrequently presented piece, but can go a long way in clearing challenging rows or columns. Be sure to use wisely!
- Don't get thrown off by the different colors of the 10x10 tiles ---it is all about clearing the rows and columns! The colors are absolutely irrelevant to your strategy!
